How to Make A Cranberry Bourbon Sour
Prep time: 4 minutes
Serves: 1
Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz fresh cranberry juice (or cranberry simple syrup — see notes)
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ½ oz simple syrup
- ½ oz egg white or aquafaba
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- Ice
- Sugared cranberries and orange peel (garnish)
Instructions
- Dry shake bourbon, cranberry juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white for 15 seconds (no ice).
- Add ice and shake vigorously for another 15 seconds.
- Double–strain into a chilled coupe.
- Add 2 dashes of orange bitters to the foam.
- Garnish with sugared cranberries threaded on a pick and a twist of orange peel.
Notes
Cranberry syrup: Simmer 1 cup fresh cranberries + 1 cup sugar + 1 cup water until berries burst (about 10 min). Strain. Far brighter flavor than bottled cranberry juice.
Sugared cranberries: Toss fresh cranberries in simple syrup, then roll in granulated sugar. Let dry for 1 hour.
Holiday tip: This scales beautifully as a batch cocktail for holiday parties.
